Kevin Bogenschutz, DMS, PA-C is an Assistant Professor of PA Studies at Butler University, in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. He completed his undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology at the University of Dayton. Kevin then earned his master’s degree in PA studies from Butler University, as well as his Doctor of Medical Science. Professionally, Kevin practiced in primary care, pulmonary, and urgent care medicine as the Senior Clinical Director at Pike Medical Consultants. Although he is a full-time faculty, Kevin continues to practice Pulmonology/Primary Care medicine one day per week and intermittent urgent care coverage.
Kevin is also a co-founder of the Near West Free Clinic, helping to provide care for the underserved community of Indianapolis. He maintains active memberships in the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Indiana Academy of Physician Assistants. Kevin enjoys traveling to national parks with his wife (also a PA!), two daughters, and dog.

Andrew Chastain is an Assistant Professor in PA Studies. He graduated from Indiana University School of Allied Health Sciences with a B.S. in Respiratory Therapy. He completed his PA training at the Stanford University School of Medicine, Primary Care Associate Program with Foothill College in Palo Alto, California. Andrew previously held a Clinical Assistant Professor appointment within the Stanford University School of Medicine as a faculty member for the Master of Science in PA Studies Program. He currently practices clinically as a PA with Ascension St. Vincent Women’s Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Andrew holds fellow membership in the Indiana Academy of Physician Assistants, the Physician Assistant Education Association, and the Society for Physician Assistants in Pediatrics. He enjoys spending time traveling with his wife Jenny and their wire fox terrier, Charley.
Karen Corby, a Michigan native, earned a BS in Physiology from CMU and spent eight years working in cardiac rehabilitation and eleven years in pharmaceutical sales. Her understanding of the clinical environment and experience interacting with medical professionals in a multitude of clinical specialties prepared her to serve as an Experiential Education Liaison. Karen supports the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences by maintaining relationships with clinical sites, pursuing new opportunities for experiential learning, and facilitating the legal agreements necessary for student placement.
Jaclyn Demeter, MPAS, PA-C is an Assistant Professor in the Department of PA Studies. She earned Bachelor of Science in Health Science and Master of Physician Assistant Studies degrees from Butler University. She began her PA career in Orthopaedic Spine Surgery in Indianapolis, Indiana—caring for patients in the office, hospital, and operating room settings. In her clinical role, she precepted PA students in their clinical rotations. Jaclyn is passionate about teaching and mentoring PA students through all stages of their PA education and career.

Jaclyn serves as the liaison for Butler University’s PA Program to the Indiana Academy of Physician Assistants (IAPA) where she also leads the Membership Committee as a co-chair. She volunteers with the PA Foundation through the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). She holds membership in the following organizations: IAPA, AAPA and Physician Assistant Education Association.
When she is not in the classroom, you will find Jaclyn enjoying the outdoors or participating in triathlon swim, bike, and run activities.
Anne Geary PA-C, joined the Department of PA Studies faculty in 2021. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Applied Mathematics from Franklin College in 2012 and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies here at Butler University in 2015. As a licensed PA in Indiana, she has practiced exclusively in gastroenterology and hepatology and continues to practice clinically in this subspecialty one day a week at Hendricks Regional Health. Outside the classroom she enjoys being the Girl Scout troop leader for her school-aged twin daughters, urban gardening, and attending Indiana Pacers games. The Geary family recently welcomed a third daughter into the mix in January 2024.
Jennifer Guthrie was born and raised in Beech Grove, IN. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Xavier University in 1998 with a Bachelors of Natural Sciences, and then went on to graduate Cum Laude with High Honors from Butler University in 2000 with her Bachelors of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Jennifer completed her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree in May 2014 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Jennifer has practiced as a PA in family medicine since 2000, and continues to see patients at Family Medical Center in Seymour, IN one day per week. She accepted a full-time faculty position teaching in the PA Program at Butler University in January 2012, and currently serves as the Director of Experiential Education and Associate Professor for the program. Jennifer married her high school sweetheart, Joe Guthrie, in 1999 and they have been blessed with two wonderful children, Sydnee age 21 years (a current Butler University student majoring in Biology) and Clayton age 19 years (a freshman at Indiana University in Bloomington majoring in Business). Jennifer and her family currently reside in Columbus, IN.

Carol Sitzman joined Butler’s Physician Assistant faculty in the Fall of 2019. She worked in family medicine, for over 20 years in the Indianapolis area. She is a graduate of the Butler University Physician Assistant Program, BS, in 1996, after completing a BS in Biology also from Butler in 1992. She completed a Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies in 2017 through the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Carol Served as a clinical preceptor for the Butler Physician Assistant Program prior to joining the faculty.

Carol is a member of the IAPA, AAPA and PAEA Carol enjoys spending time with her family including husband and 5 children in her free time as well as handful of hobbies including sewing and crafting.
Dr. Snyder graduated from the Butler University physician assistant program in 1997 and earned a PhD in Health Sciences from Nova Southeastern University in 2014. She has worked in both Family and Emergency Medicine as a physician assistant. She is a tenured professor. She has served within the PA program as the Academic Coordinator, Clinical Coordinator, Program Director, and Chair of the Department. Dr. Snyder was the founding Chair and Program Director of the Doctor of Medical Science Program in the Department of Medical Sciences. On June 1, 2020, she assumed the position of Associate Dean Academic and Administrative Services of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She has served as a University Faculty Senator and on the College and University Professional Standards Committees while at Butler University.
Dr. Snyder has been active in the national professional organizations of the PA profession. She served as Director at Large and President of the Board of Directors of the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA). She has served as a site visitor for the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant. Dr. Snyder has served as chair of the Public Relations Committee of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). She has served on several Reference Committees and the Standing Rules Committee within the House of Delegates, AAPA. In addition, she has served on numerous other committees and workgroups in both the PAEA and AAPA.
She has remained active as a member with her state physician assistant organization. In the past, Dr. Snyder was elected to positions within the Indiana Academy of Physician Assistants as President, Secretary and on numerous occasions as a Delegate to the AAPA House of Delegates.
Dr. Snyder was awarded the PAEA Master Faculty of the Year Award in 2019 and the President’s Award in 2011 by the Student Academy of American Academy of Physician Assistants. She is a Distinguished Fellow Member of the AAPA.
Dr. Snyder has presented and published several articles on clinical, professional, and research topics associated with the PA profession and education.
Daniel Sturm is a licensed Physician Assistant with 15 years of experience in primary care. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology in 1995 and a Masters of Medial Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 1997. Mr. Sturm specializes in providing outpatient comprehensive primary care services including minor routine office procedures. His clinical interests include travel medicine, patient education, health promotion, and disease prevention. Mr. Sturm continues to practice part-time in an urgent care setting.
He joined Butler University 2011 as an Assistant Professor for the Physician Assistant Program within the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Mr. Sturm has taught the following courses: Introduction to Imaging Studies, Clinical Medicine, Social and Behavioral Medicine, Clinical Integration, 12 Lead ECG interpretation, Clinical Procedures and provided lab instruction for History and Physical Assessment and Clinical Procedures labs . He tries to create an open and active learning environment that fosters the development of clinical reasoning using a common sense approach. He enjoys working with the students in small groups in the lab where he can get to know them on a more personal level.
Mr. Sturm is a strong advocate of the PA profession and regularly serves as an elected Indiana Delegate in the American Academy of Physician Associates. He served as the CME chair for the Indiana Academy of Physician Assistants for five years. In this role, he was instrumental in organizing and promoting Indiana’s first Student Medical Challenge Bowl for PA students. Mr. Sturm has a passion for point-of-care ultrasound and strives to incorporate this emerging technology in each of his courses. He currently serves as the President of the Society of Point of Care Ultrasound.
His interests include rooting for Butler’s athletic teams, playing pickleball, and camping. Mr. Sturm is an active adult leader in the Boy Scouts of America. He resides in Westfield, Indiana with his wife and two children.
Kali Veness, PA-C, joined the Department of PA Studies faculty in 2015. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and Master of Physician Assistant Studies here at Butler University. As a licensed PA in Indiana, she has clinical experience in both orthopedic s and pediatrics. As a former NCAA Division I volleyball player, she enjoys keeping active with her husband and 3 young children.
