About the Indigenous Inclusion and Engagement Working Group

The Indigenous Inclusion and Engagement working group was formed to champion the following initiatives on Butler’s campus:

  • Awareness – Educating on traditional knowledge, courses/programs, and learning opportunities.
  • Representation –Recruiting students, faculty, and staff; developing scholarships; encouraging hiring incentives; and retaining services and support, policies, and practices review.
  • Community Relations – Building connections and relationships with local leaders in Indianapolis, tribal leaders of traditional Indiana homelands, and Indigenous leaders around the world.
  • Truth & Reconciliation – Advocating for local indigenous history, land acknowledgment, social responsibility.

Committee Members

This working group, chaired by Professor of Anthropology Dr. Tom Mould, is comprised of faculty, staff, students, and alumni seeking to mobilize campus to engage in Indigenous issues, achievements, culture, and joy.
