Observatory Chairlift Instructions

  1. The circuit breaker for the elevator is in the Observatory Lobby.
  2. The circuit breaker should be flipped upward in the on position.
  3. There are three key switches.
  4. The top and bottom switches (not connected to the handicap platform) can only raise and lower the platform and move the closed platform to the full up or closed position. Only the switch connected to the platform or the remote can move the actual platform with someone on it.
  5. Operating procedure:
        • Go to the North Lobby Planetarium Door and open.
        • Place the key in the switch at the top of the stairs and turn on.
        • Lower the platform until the wheel chair can move on the platform.
        • once the person is on the platform connect the remote control (currently stored in the cabinet across from the North Planetarium Door).
        • move the key from the top to the platform control and turn on.
        • hand the person the remote control.
        • have the person move the platform down HOLDING THE BUTTON DOWN UNTIL THE PLATFORM IS AT THE PLANETARIUM LEVEL VIII. allow the person to exit when the flaps are down.
        • place the key in the switch (planetarium level) and close the platform
        • following the program- turn on the key to switch planetarium level XI. lower the platform.
        • put person on platform.
        • person will use the remote HOLDING DOWN THE BUTTON UNTIL THEY ARE AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS.
        • person will exit.
        • put the key in the top switch turn on.
        • close the platform against the wall and turn off.
        • place the remote back in the closet.
