Pre-Health Events
First-Year Student Orientation
Early September
This meeting is mandatory for all incoming students, including first-years and transfers, new to pre-health. Topics covered consist of an introduction to your pre-health advisors, expectations for your time at Butler, and professional school admissions requirements.
Interview Preparation Workshop
Mid September
Junior and senior pre-health students that are preparing for interviews are encouraged to attend this workshop hosted by staff from the Career and Professional Success (CaPS) office.
First-Year Advising Overview
Mid October
First-year pre-health students are encouraged to attend to hear an overview of what to expect during their first advising meetings as well as to help plan out their academics from a pre-health perspective.
Entrance Exam Preparation
Late November
Junior pre-health students who are planning to take the MCAT, DAT, OAT, or GRE will learn about these entrance exams, hear updated statistics and information, and be provided resources for success.
Personal Statement Overview
Late February
Junior pre-health students are invited to attend an information session regarding writing personal statements as a part of an application for professional school, including timelines as well as the “what to do and what not to do” in a personal statement.
Personal Statement Workshop
Late March
The Personal Statement Workshop is for junior pre-health students; participation requires a complete draft of a personal statement that has been submitted to the pre-health advisors prior to the workshop. Students and advisors will cooperatively and confidentially provide constructive feedback on writing of personal statements.
Application Overview
Late April
Junior or senior pre-health students that are preparing to apply to professional school should attend to learn about the application process for various professional schools, including timelines, various application components, and applicable links to their specific programs.
Second-Year Reviews
March-May
Second-year pre-health students will submit material and undergo a review to evaluate their progress. This allows ample time to accumulate any additional experiences or components needed prior to their actual application to professional school.
