If you aspire to a future career as an educator, community builder, nonprofit manager, youth coach, or something similar, the associate’s degree in Youth and Community Advocacy could be a good fit for you. 

The curriculum within the Youth and Community Advocacy major will include coursework within Butler’s Core Curriculum in addition to major-specific classes focused on education, advocacy, youth development, and more. 

Throughout this two-year program, you can expect to access a variety of experiential learning opportunities. You will also have the opportunity to earn relevant industry credentials, including:

  • Child and Youth Care
  • Mental Health
  • First Aid

Upon completion of the degree, you will be well-equipped to enter the workforce in fields such as school care, youth sports, mental health/skills training, nonprofit management, and customer service—just to name a few.

You will be able to promote the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social well-being of children and adolescents with an ethical, collaborative, and caring approach across a variety of professional settings.

You’ll have the ability explain the integral roles of diversity, inclusion, and belonging in supporting and strengthening individuals, families, and communities.

You will compare and contrast the ways in which various career pathways in education, the arts, business, and social sciences contribute to the development and well-being of youth, families, and communities.
