Two Concentration Areas

With a focus on versatility and adaptability, the Healthcare Studies major offers two distinct concentration areas: Administration or Clinical Science. Both associate degree programs will prepare you for a career or to obtain a bachelor’s degree in just two additional years. You will also have the ability to earn relevant industry credentials in medical billing and coding.

The Administration concentration will prepare you for a career in healthcare that does not involve direct patient care, such as medical billing and coding.

The coursework you take will prepare you for to sit for national exams such as Certified Professional Coder® and/or Certified Professional Biller®, allowing you to earn lucrative industry certifications that will directly prepare you to join the workforce.

The Clinical Science concentration will prepare you for a career in both direct patient care and medical coding.

If you’re interested in patient-centered work, the coursework in the Clinical Science concentration will prepare you to perform laboratory techniques and procedures and also interpret medical data and laboratory results.

You will apply knowledge of security, privacy, and ethics in the context of HIPAA guidelines in medical settings.
