ART306, Interactive: Digital Art + Web Design: This course is about interaction between the audience and you, the artist and designer. We'll explore a variety of media and approaches, including video game design, web design, relational art. You'll learn to use software like GameSalad to create your own games and Dreamweaver to create webpages. At the same time we'll study more traditional means of making interactive art, particularly through the study of relational aesthetics. You'll explore the concepts behind making strong designs, and build your portfolio as an artist.

Key Student Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course students will:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of connectivity of a variety of art + design methods, materials, techniques and technologies.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the intellectual underpinning of art + design in terms of history, process and theory.
  • Interpret, compare and critique their own and other's work in terms of materials, processes and concepts (demonstrating critical abilities with respect to innovation, craft and sophistication).
